The Types Of Lithium Ion Batteries

A lithium-ion battery is the rechargeable battery in which these lithium ions move from positive electrode to negative electrode and vice-versa. These lithium-ion batteries are the fast growing batteries used in electrical appliances.

These batteries are popular because of its long lasting durability and performance. The high energy density batteries are usually used in the mobiles and electrical cars.  Manufacturers commonly use cobalt, graphite, lithium, and nickel to compose these batteries.

There are 6 types of lithium-ion batteries that are  mentioned below:

Lithium Cobalt Oxide: This type of batteries are made by using lithium carbonate and cobalt. These batteries are used in mobiles, camera, and tablets. The lithium cobalt oxide requires the frequent charging as they get discharge very often.

Lithium Manganese Oxide: These are also known as Lithium-ion manganese batteries. These batteries are popular because of its high thermal stability and are safer than any other batteries available. They are used in power tools and electric bikes.

Lithium Iron Phosphate: The Li-phosphate batteries have a low-resistance property which makes more stable and have a long lifespan. These are widely used in electric vehicles.

Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide: Due to its low self-heating rate, they are widely used in power tool and power trains.

Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide: These batteries are also known as NCA Batteries and they are widely used in automotive industries. These batteries provide the high energy density.

Lithium Titanate: These batteries are made with the help of  nanotechnology. Due to fast recharge time and lower inherent voltage, these are used in military and aerospace. They are also used in creating the smart grid for solar panels. As per the manufacturers, these batteries can also be used in electrical buses for public transportation.

The lithium-ion battery industries are constantly enhancing these batteries. Moreover, the scientists are also working on the performance of these batteries and creating new form of battery.
